the ‘ARA’ screen by grégoire de lafforest and mireille herbst, contains a multi-layered exterior which makes reference to the tropical macaw parrot. the enveloping structure has been assembled using individual lacquered parts, that reflect a complimentary alliance of different blues.

the project which was exhibited at D’DAYS festival at the museum arts décoratifs, paris, has been developed by grégoire de lafforest to act as both a screen or room divider. the interior architect and designer – who has worked at hermès, cartier boutiques and baccarat – has constructed each piece upon the frame, like roof tiles nestled against each other on a house. this facade gave thought to the plumage seen on some macaws, which gives the furniture piece a heightened sense of exotic luxury.
