california-based kitchen utensil company GIR — get it right — has switch some of its production to the development of reusable silicone face masks. ‘when we realized there was a need for protective gear for everyone from healthcare workers to grocery store workers to you and me, we got to work and partnered with our manufacturers to develop a reusable silicone mask,’ comments GIR.

GIR’s silicone face mask is a breathable face shield made with medical-grade, FDA and LFGB approved silicone. fitted with a filter, the mask will help fight the spread of COVID-19. in order to clean it, the mask can be sanitized after each use in the dishwasher, microwave, oven, autoclave, or by hand washing vigorously with soap and hot water. once you buy it, each kit includes 5 filters to start with, which should be disposed after each use.
GIR’s masks are not medical devices but general-purpose masks. their filters are made from four layers of material: an outer spun-bond, non-woven polypropylene layer to block initial large particles, dust, and liquid droplets; a double layer of fine, electrostatically charged melt-blown non-woven fabric to block finer dust particles, bacteria, and virus-carrying droplets; and an enclosing inner layer of spun-bond polypropylene to block exhaled droplets. since a tight fit is a good fit, GIR has included a small plastic clip in the package so that users can hook it behind their head for a tighter fit in case of a smaller head.
