FLORIM stone, a brand by Florim known for its advanced approach to porcelain stoneware, presents its latest offerings at Milan Design Week 2024. The eleven proposals introduce a variety of aesthetic and functional solutions for furniture, worktops, as well as bathroom and kitchen surfaces, including two types of granite, four limestones, one porphyry, three travertines, and one refined marble.

With a legacy of over 60 years, the Italian manufacturer continues to contribute to the evolution of stoneware in the design industry. As part of Florim, FLORIM stone specializes in large-format porcelain stoneware surfaces designed for furniture and worktops. Available in sizes up to 320×160 cm and in three thicknesses (6, 12, and 20 mm), these surfaces provide extensive aesthetic and functional versatility.

Each surface in the product range is inspired by natural stones from around the world. Black Granite, influenced by Beola Nera from the Italian Alps, is actually rare due to difficult extraction. Its visual and tactile appeal makes it perfect for natural or rustic settings, adding warmth and authenticity to spaces. Florim travels from Italy to Spain for Blue Granite, inspired by Azul Aran from the Val d’Aran in the Spanish Pyrenees, offering a special grey-blue and white aesthetic. Renowned for its acid resistance, this surface is ideal for flooring, countertops, and interiors.

Other surface options are Purple Stone, modeled after Porfido Viola from the Lombardy Alps, with its distinctive purple hue and durable microstructure, and Stone Jura, inspired by the Jura Limestone from Upper Bavaria, characterized by its fossil-rich composition formed over millions of years in ancient tropical lagoons. The range also includes travertine (Gold Travertine, Pearl Travertine and Shake Travertine) from Italy, featuring a porous structure and irregular streaking with warm colors and pale veins, and Marble (Marble Aubisque) from near the Col d’Aubisque in France, embracing golden tones and sometimes verging on shades of black.

Closing off with three more surfaces influenced by stones from different parts of France: Stone Montpellier, drawing inspiration from a limestone found in the Occitanie region; Stone Dordogne, inspired by the limestone near Château d’Auberoche; and Stone Chablis, mirroring the Massangis stone from Burgundy. These limestones showcase unique features, such as embedded shells and corals, brown speckles, and distinctive cloudy mottling.

From the raw material selection to the final finishes, Florim emphasizes attention to detail and quality in every stage of production. The latest releases feature matte leather and silk finishes that enhance the natural charm of the material, using digital decoration technologies.

As the name indicates, the ‘Matte Leather Finish 2024’ offers a tactile experience reminiscent of natural leather. This effect is achieved through a process of acid treatment, sandblasting, and brushing, which enhances the natural veining and three-dimensional aspects of stones. This finish is available on surfaces such as Stone Montpellier, Stone Dordogne, Stone Chablis, Shake Travertine, Pearl Travertine, Gold Travertine, Blue Granite, and Black Granite.

The ‘Matte Silk Finish 2024’ provides a smooth surface achieved through a careful abrasion process followed by fine brushing. Utilizing digital inks, it replicates the matte lapping carried out on natural stone. Options like Stone Jura, Marble Aubisque, and Purple Stone exemplify this refined technique, offering a soft touch without a reflective glare.
