färg & blanche apply layering principle to norma series for johanson

swedish design duo färg & blanche have presented at the stockholm furniture fair 2018 a very versatile sofa called ‘norma’ for johanson. characterized by a look that can change completely depending on the color and fabric choices, the sofa and armchair series features three fabric sections put together using a layering principle. based on the concept of utilizing blankets and throws on sofas to create contrast, the seating objects can vary greatly depending on whether one, two or three different materials or colors are chosen.

the ‘norma’ series is the second collaboration between färg & blanche and johanson, following the popular ‘frankie’ series. its name ‘norma’ comes from the dancer norma miller, who was frankie manning’s lindy hop partner in the legendary 1941 film helzapoppin’. ‘to us, the series has a feminine feel with a strong voice. it can be simple or extravagant depending on how you choose to dress it,’ says emma and fredrik. ‘we are looking forward to seeing how many different versions of norma we will be meeting.’
