Ethimo, in collaboration with Studio Zanellato/Bortotto, unveils Patio, a captivating outdoor furniture collection that weaves tradition into sophisticated design. Defined by intricate weaving techniques and the natural elegance of teak, the collection of armchairs, thee-seater sofas, daybeds and coffee tables reimagines outdoor lounging with forms that embrace and invite. Inspired by the open-air courtyards of Spanish architecture, where porticoes and loggias housed the various rooms in the house, Patio is a tribute to the ancient traditional artistry of weaving, transformed into a language of contemporary design.

Ethimo, an Italian brand known for its refined outdoor furnishings, partners with the acclaimed Studio Zanellato/Bortotto to craft a collection that marries artisanal tradition with modern aesthetics. The Patio collection, set to debut at an exclusive exhibition, embodies their shared passion for material exploration and creativity. Each piece highlights a distinctive woven pattern inspired by Eastern craftsmanship, where skilled artisans integrate a variety of weaving techniques into teak-framed structures, creating elegant and functional outdoor seating and dining elements.

‘The Patio collection,’ explains Studio Zanellato/Bortotto, ‘stems from our passion for the variety of weaves and patterns discovered on our travels. We designed a series of motifs as 3D surfaces that could be become the decoration and structure of a series of outdoor seating elements. The latter become true frames in wood and teak into which skilled craftsmen weave close patterns based on our suggestions, tests and inspirations, gathered with this new project in mind for Ethimo.’

A symphony of textures and hues in outdoor living

Ethimo’s Patio offers a complete range of lounge and dining elements, each distinguished by its soft, enveloping forms and intricate weaves. The lounge selection includes an armchair, a three-seater sofa, a daybed, and a coffee table topped with enameled lava stone in fog or moss green. The pieces feature light grey outdoor rope meticulously woven into an arched motif, accentuated by lagoon blue details that evoke the fluidity of water. Generously cushioned seats in sand and sea tones, complemented by floral-inspired decorative pillows, enhance both comfort and visual appeal.

The collection extends into the dining space with a round table (Ø140 cm) and an oval table (200×120 cm), paired with sculptural armchairs. The table tops, crafted from cross-cut travertine and Cipollino marble, add a tactile richness to the composition. Their teak bases draw inspiration from nautical ropes wrapped around mooring bollards, a detail that reinforces the maritime influences woven throughout the series.

Completing the ensemble is a gracefully designed hammock, its woven surface evoking gentle waves in a poetic nod to the rhythmic motion of relaxation. The Patio collection invites users to rediscover the beauty of outdoor living, where past and present converge in an elegant dialogue of form, function, and craftsmanship.
