italian designer paolo cappello and venetian glass producers ercole moretti combine talents to present ’emulsioni’, a collection of decorative murano glass plates and bowls. the objects, created with the ancient murrine technique, are modeled to look like emulsion foam. they appear extremely light and fragile, yet remain solid and fully usable.

modeled after emulsion foam, the pieces look very light and fragile, but remain fully functional

to make the pieces, ercole moretti artisans placed small, transparent glass cylinders spontaneously on a mould, then filled the gaps with a colored glass sand. when placed in the furnace, the two melt together. the murrine technique is dated back to ancient romans, and is still used by a select few glassworks based in murano.
