comprised of six pieces that were showcased at maison et objet, ‘primates’ by elena salmistraro reference three different monkey types: the mandrill, belonging to the family of african cercopithecidae; the golden monkey, cercopithecus kandti, belonging to the family of african cercopithecidae; and debrazza’s monkey, belonging to the family of african cercopithecidae. the ape is the animal that best evokes man, in body shape, expressions and movements. this powerful similarity to man is what makes it fascinating and what inspired the creation of the vases, whose soul is encompassed in the details and colorful textures.
