working together with venice projects in her continued exploration of manipulating glass forms into lighting objects, pieke bergmans has developed ‘metamorphosis’, a series of street lamp typologies. drawing on the lights which are seen illuminating the walkways of venice by night, the dutch designer transforms their iron bodies, twisting them into whimsical configurations, working together with glassblowers to form bulbs which push through and droop out of their metal framework and shades – like giant bubbles ready to pop at any moment. the collection was presented in a solo exhibition ‘imagine’ at design miami/ 2012.
