dario narvaez’s ‘invisible love’ necklace goes beyond the conventional boundaries of aesthetics and form to explore new interactions of light, shadow and shape. the design plays with factors of time, fortuity, surprise and curiosity; sustained and inspired by love.
the necklace is manufactured through a metal casting and polishing process
the new york-based industrial designer created the piece using pure and clean forms that are reduced to their minimum values in terms of number of parts, easy manufacturability and easy assembly process. surprise and eventuality are key elements in the design, whose function is revealed in layers, and where its attributes are passively maintained.
the heart shape is created by the harmonized relation between light, shadow and form
with the use of two elements, two experiences are generated. when the light hits the circle from the right angle it creates a heart-shaped shadow on the cylinders that can either be seen by everyone, or, by flipping the main piece, only by the person who wears it. the necklace aims to embrace the communication of feelings by creating emotional bonds between people. extending beyond the symbolic, functional and formal life of the object, the designer intended to create a piece that offers people the chance to associate it with unique values and meanings.
