german studio dante goods and bads presents during maison et objet, ‘minima moralia’, a room divider designed by christophe de la fontaine. the screen is part of the studio’s fourth collection called metropolitan improvement. the pieces that make up this set have in common that instead of wanting to innovate, they want to improve. the designed furniture takes objects that have been already around to make something new and better.

the ‘minima moralia’ room divider measures 80 x 20 x 180 cm, and is made of powder-coated steel and pleated fabric. to create it, christophe de la fontaine took a machine that churns out aluminum shutter slats to help him fold the screen. the bended steel structure is later on cover by a pleated fabric that gives it an elegant touch. the folding screen comes in three different colors: black, bordeaux and yellow. as a very industrial production in itself, the ‘minima moralia’ fits the metropolitan improvement collection perfectly, as it reflects the idea of a city, with an object that provides privacy in a public space.
