specializing in object & space design at the école supérieure d’art et de design (ESAD) de reims in france, daae won uncovers the ‘serendipity’ stool collection which results from moments of randomness that occured during moulding. the product includes extruded polyurethane foam and black strips of polyethylene, ultimately creating a colorful blend — almost like an abstracted marbled texture.

during the first step of her project at the ESAD de reims, daae won randomly laid out strips of polyethylene in the mould like an improvised drawing then poured colored foam in an irregular manner over the strips. the foam later changes its shape by flowing and rising in the mould. as a result, its rectangular shape is detached and cut out from a larger mass to reveal different sections. ‘no one can predict the outcome, many times the repetitive moments come together and create different possibilities,’ explains won.
