scholten & baijings’ ‘colour wood chair’ produced by karimoku new standard is made from small laths of oakwood that have been assembled to a single shell. this method uses no apparent joint to form the seat of the frame which challenges traditional wood working techniques. a graphical composition is made through this manufacturing process, creating sharp conturing lines that protrude outwards. this piece of furniture comes as a side chair and as an armchair in karimoku new standard’s typical light transparent finishes. the seat, upholstered with fabric or leather, is designed to offer relaxed seating comfort, making the piece suitable for home and contract applications.

scholten & baijings’ ‘colour wood chair’ is on show during milan design week 2016.
