Colibri M22 is the first electric bike with up to a 200km range of exploration on a single charge. Developed by Petre Georgescu, designer of the lightest foldable bicycle in the world, this new innovative solution for urban travel is foldable, highly customizable, and comes equipped with a variety of accessories to fit different needs. Born from a motivation to bring about revolutionary changes to urban transportation, the electric moped makes commuting quicker, easier, and cheaper. At the end of their journeys, travelers can easy store their e-moped away in balconies or under stairways thanks to its foldable and compact mechanisms.

colibri m22 makes commuting easier, safer, and cheaper

Petre Georgescu conceives Colibri M22 as a starting platform with plenty of power and off-road capability which can be easily tucked away after a commute. Built out of the designer’s own workshop located 50 km away from Bucharest, the concept derives as a resolution to provide commuters with a better alternative to uncomfortable and polluting forms of transportation.

‘I move a lot, and the daily hours spent in traffic seem like a tragedy to me, especially since the distances traveled daily in big cities are increasing. For example, the average commute in London is 32 km a day, takes 85 minutes and it costs €5,722 per year,’ explains Georgescu. ‘With Colibri, the cost of one commute could be as much as a cup of coffee per month.’

Weighing in at 30 kg without batteries, Colibri M22 has a longer range than other electric motorcycles, able to travel up to 200 km on just one full charge. Three modular batteries contained beneath the cover can also be separated and charged independently of one another, or simultaneously.

Further, Petre Georgescu completed M22 with the needs of the urban rider in mind, ensuring it can be driven legally with a category B license at a maximum speed of 50 km/h. As well as this, it includes an off-road mode which is perfect for travelers who love trailing through forests and mountains — this setting has a top speed of 90 kph and can only be used when off-road.

The project will soon be launched through a crowdfunding campaign on the Colibri website, with pre-sales for the US and European markets available from March 2023.
