‘cleanlean’ by industrial design students at victoria university of wellington in new zealand is a reclining flat-packable chair intended for spaces such as libraries and airport lounges. the flexible furniture piece uses a pair of linkages that are mounted to its outer frame – enabling different seating positions to be maintained, simply by adjusting one’s body posture. the responsive chair helps to keep a fixed center of gravity to prevent falling out, or tipping over. constructed from fijian kauri wood, CNC milling and dowel-joints were used for the main structure, while the seat itself incorporates biscuit-joined planks.
