claesson koivisto rune (CKR) explore the geometric perfection applied to tableware. square objects need to be placed in line with the surface in which they sit or else they seem out of sync; while round objects always seem to work. looking at the linear and circular forms of the two, CKR turns to the unsung silhouette of the pentagon–which combines a particular formal integrity–to inform their ‘étoile’ serving tray and cutting board for petite friture. the rounded edges of the five-sided design is engraved with star patterns that draw from the beautiful filigree work found in mosques. these impression in the surface of ‘étoile’ are not only there or decoration, but also provide draining when serving meat, or fruit etc. the ‘étoile’ serving tray and cutting board debuts at maison et objet 2013.
