It is International Cat Day today, and Tesla has a surprise in store as it unveils its own Tesla Cybertruck cat litter box made of cardboard for furry pets, ahead of the official release of the car’s real models. The first real model of the Tesla Cybertruck has already been revealed and produced at the company’s Giga Texas, four years after it was first announced to the public and following two years of delay. Now, this geometrically shaped vehicle gets its own mini version for the purring felines, just in time to celebrate their special day.

The Tesla Cybertruck for cats mirrors the contours of the actual vehicle. Instead of sloping upwards like mountain peaks, the cardboard creates an opening before rising into an edgy ascent. The sides of the litter box also flap upward, allowing tilting, which cats might find entertaining if they get bored. At first glance, the center part looks like a carpet placed there for cats to lay on, but it consists of thick corrugated paper stacked together and integrated into the box. If the cats want to take a break, it seems that they may do so in their own Tesla Cybertruck litter box.

Tesla China, the branch responsible for the Cybertruck cat litter box, says that the product is DIY. It will be shipped to the furry pet owners as a giant cardboard that they need to fold and fit themselves. There are instructions that will come with the product, but it seems easy to put it all together by the way the slots are pronounced. Tesla China also states that the Cybertruck is made of thickened and moisture-proof corrugated paper to make sure that it can weather wetness and last a bit longer.

So far, Tesla China has attached a price tag of 89 yuan (around 12 USD) for the Cybertruck cat litter box and has a load capacity of up to 15 kilos. It looks like this may be one of the publicity stunts to put the real model of Cybertruck forward, making Tesla fans clamor for its mass production. While they are waiting for the real model to get out in the market – if these geometric vehicles will ever hit the road – Tesla fans with cats might want to make do with a cardboard litter box for now.
