casta armchair by estudiHac for sancal references a castanet
drawing on the musical culture of his native spain, ‘casta’ armchair by josé manuel ferrero of estudiHac references one of the most emblematic instruments of his country–the castanet. referencing the two halves of the clam-shaped wood of the sound making device, ‘casta’ is formed by a curved metal structure that is composed of two elements that have been welded into place. the lightweight design for sancal employs a technologically advanced fabric cover that is integrated with the cushions in order to provide comfort; the textile component in part supporting the sitter. available in black, light grey or grown, the metal structure of ‘casta’ comes in a matte, textured finish with ash wood armrests which remind one of the wood from which castanets are made of.
