the history of tribal masks is deeply rooted in the traditions of ancient civilizations around the world. as people adorned their faces with these handcrafted accessories, they were transferred to a spiritual psychological state, enhancing the the atmosphere of rituals and ceremonies. with these decorations in mind, ecuadorian graphic designer carlos luis trujillo has illustrated a series of 50 character illustrations.

the aesthetics of the timeless relics have been combined with the visual language of cartoons. with the use of basic shades, lines, and geometric figures, each face has its own symmetrical character with unique elements and color combinations.
