bureau betak erects glass maze for FENDI's romantic SS21 haute couture show

in times of COVID-19, event organizers are having to think outside the box to create captivating shows while still following safety measures. however, for FENDI‘s SS21 haute couture show in paris, special events company bureau betak thought inside the box. streamed live from palais brongniart on wednesday, january 27th 2021, the digital fashion show saw models walk through an arrangement of glass cases, which were of course shaped in FENDI’s famous double-F monogram.

the show marked artistic director kim jones’ debut for FENDI haute couture. his collection saw dreamy, flowing shapes and a much-needed dose of romanticism. ‘drawing from seemingly diverse inspirations, from the visual language of bernini’s marbles to virgina woolf’s time-travelling, gender-blurring novel orlando, the show navigates a unique journey from the british bloomsbury to rome’s galleria borghese,’  said FENDI.

to reflect the english fashion designer’s vision, bureau betak designed its glass labyrinth to look romantic and mysterious. despite the usual coldness of glass, the designers created an overall warm atmosphere thanks to beds of wildflowers, small trees, and even the odd bookcase. neon lights lining both the runway and the tops of the cases illuminated an all-star cast of models. while the reflections on the glass added a dreamy, mystical touch for what was part 1 of FENDI’s haute couture spring summer 2021 collection.
