debuting at ventura lambrate during salone del mobile, ‘the bug collection’ by rui pereira and ryosuke fukusada brings together a group of designers from around the world to interpret their own experiences within bathing spaces. ‘bug collection’ creates a deeper connection between the washroom area and the rest of the house by revisiting furniture typologies. the series incorporates the use of cork due to its unique properties: impermeability to liquids, thermal and acoustic insulator, hypoallergenic and soft to touch. referencing japanese ‘geta’ flip flops, the project blends portuguese cork tradition with a form that ‘avoids the wet floor’.
