it is no secret that brazilian furniture design is gaining global attention. handcrafted work and hybrid pieces with flexible assignments, to be used in a collective way and purposely offered for users customization is the current trend. that is also how the brazilian architect and designer mauricio arruda defines his series entitled ‘coletiva’, with a very brazilian repertoire of materials – tubular iron structures, leather bands, wicker, nylon straps, wood and glass.

noble wood parquet, collected from building sites, are manually re-sized and finished to create the circular base on this lamp over a brass structure. the woven cane is the residue from its replacement on chairs seats and backs. to turn it into a rigid surface it is encapsulated by a see-through resin and then laser-cut into a perfect circle.
