‘foundation’

london-based designer benjamin hubert has designed ‘foundation’ a shelving and storage system whose form is influenced by brutalist architecture.

designed for heal’s, the overall structure is made of a dark grey valchromat, a wood fibre board colored with organic dyes that are specifically developed and bonded with resin to ensure that the natural appearance and characteristics of the fibre remain in tact. the wood is sourced from forest waste and recycled pine. the valchromat is combined with folded steel powder coated box files accompanied by matching leather pull handles. the combination of the industrial materials softened by the more tactile leather details emphasizes the brutalist language while maintaining a sense of tradition that is found in leather bound books.
