rolling flower pots by studio BAG disseny dance with the sun

within the setting of the present-day home, potted plants are typically static. after they’re purchased, people place any shrub they would like inside, and they continue their life by stagnantly occupying space among other decorations. although the garden furnishings may be watered and receive the same amount of sunlight every day depending on their location, ‘why not provide them with movement to enable them to follow the path of the sun, to sway in a breeze or grow at will?’ asks studio BAG disseny. after realizing the potential for the urns to have more functionality, the designers have developed ‘voltasol.’
the base features several different colors
created for publishing house, livingthings, and handmade out of waterproof terracotta in la bisbal d’emporda, the project manifests these ideas in a tilted pot with a semi-conical shape. this slight manipulation of the base that causes a vertex to emerge from its circular center facilitates the movement of the plant and stimulates its growth by multiplying the amount of sunlight capable of reaching the roots and leaves. as a result, in opposition to its conventional predecessor, slight gestures in any direction within its given circumference can be generated spontaneously or be induced by the user at will.
