venetian architect and designer andrea deppieri of newton & son has expanded on the original wooden headwear concept from tête de bois to create a basket & centrepiece collection. the small structures consist of a strong sculptural form that is made using wood from sustainable, regenerating eco-forests. the products are all handmade in italy and offer a dynamic and unexpected energy, varying in shape depending on the way they are placed down. the series uses a combination of different materials, including iron, wood and eva – a recyclable rubber which is soft, flexible and light weight. the ‘tête de bois basket & centrepiece collections’ will be presented at the concept store spazio rossana orlandi, during milan design week 2014 and also at bagatti valsecchi museum in milan.
the pieces are made from stratified wood veneers
the tête de bois centrepiece collection incorporates dark mahogany and light tanganika wood
the baskets are made using high density eva rubber slats
the series is also made from natural black iron wire and wood
the objects can be placed on either a table or the ground and also be used as a magazine basket
the baskets also come in a variety of colors
