at this year’s edition of SingaPlural, the anchor event for singapore design week, airbnb takes guests on a virtual tour of four properties – all of which are available for hire on the company’s website. set inside a barrel-roofed pavilion, visitors are greeted with a stark white room containing a bed, a television, a couch and a small table. using 3D projection mapping, the unadorned volume is transformed as guests are shown the interiors of different listings from across the globe.

the first stop is the indonesian province of bali, where bamboo screens and flowing curtains offer a sense of the region’s beachfront lifestyle. next up, guests are transported to the malaysian island of penang where the exposed nature of the building’s masonry walls serve as a reminder of the property’s, and the region’s, historical context.

the journey then jets over 10,000 kilometers north to the french capital of paris. from the elevated apartment building, guests are shown a view of the city’s most recognizable landmark – the eiffel tower. the room is furnished with ornate floral patterns, which offset the dwelling’s raw brickwork.
