agawa gear enhances the outdoor adventure experience
In the world of outdoor adventuring, having the right tools can make all the difference. Hatchets are perfect for tasks like kindling creation and carving, but when it comes to heavy-duty log splitting, a long-handled axe is essential. The ADK26 by Agawa Gear is a multifunctional tool that intertwines the precision of a hatchet with the power of an axe to tackle any outdoor challenge.
As a hatchet, the head’s tailored Scandinavian-style bit allows for carving with precision, which with an added handle extension, constructed from impact-modified glass-fiber-reinforced nylon for durability can transform the ADK26 into a 26 inch axe. Its wide-cheeked head enables it to deliver powerful log splitting performance, while a flat poll at the back even serves as a hammer. At the end of its use, the handle can be disconnected and all components can be packed away into one compact cordura sheath for lighter adventuring.

a multifunctional tool for precision and productivity
The team at Agawa Gear completes the ADK26 with a drop-forged 5160 carbon steel head, meticulously hardened and tempered with a black oxide finish for rust protection. It features a two-part handle design which initially measures 14 inches (356 mm). Though as need arises for a longer reach, the handle extension can simply be affixed, resulting in a 26-inch (660 mm) axe which can boast a more substantial swing while providing better leverage for effortless log splitting.
The handle’s robust stainless steel spring wire clips are capable of withstanding forces exceeding 1,500 lb (680 kg), and can deflect by just three-quarters of an inch (19mm) even when subjected to a direct 500-lb (227-kg) load on the joint’s side. Weighing a mere 1.6 lb (726 g), the head contributes to the ADK26’s overall weight of just 2.5 lb (1.1 kg) when fully assembled, making it significantly lighter than carrying both a hatchet and a forest axe separately.
