returning for its 24th edition, 100% design is set to be a must-visit destination during london design festival 2018. as well as being part of the inaugural west kensington design district, the event has undergone a ‘100%’ revamp, shaking up the traditional program to demonstrate a renewed vision that celebrates both british and global design, as well as both established and emerging creatives. included in this, new exhibitions – 100% futures and 100% forward – showcase the work of upcoming talent across innovation and furniture design respectively. this all takes place in london olympia, the 130-year-old venue that is being renovated and transformed into a leading art, entertainment and event site by heatherwick studio and SPPARC architects.

referencing its roots, 100% design’s core exhibition still covers inspiring interiors, kitchens, bathrooms and bedrooms. featuring brands such as benchmark, dnd, and established & sons, the show merges them alongside emerging brands such as bulo, mono.rocks, and thors design. design professionals and enthusiasts alike can wonder throughout the exhibition, exploring good and upcoming design from around the world. on top of this, 100% build – a new feature this year – will exhibit a dedicated show for the construction and architectural industries, including the tesla powerwall and philippe starck’s prefabricated home with riko.

with a focus on creativity in the british captial, 100% futures is an exhibition celebrating forward-thinking design from a selection of british and international talents based in london. as such, the theme explores the theme ‘designing for london’ and covers intriguing work under the fields of travel, technology, well-being, public spaces and sustainability. led by design commentator max fraser, 100% futures will feature projects from jon marshall, emily brooke, chris connors and sophie thomas. as well, the exhibition aims to share designs from other cities around the world. this is with the aim of promoting ideas of the future of city-living and designing better urban centers around the globe.

in contrast, the 100% forward exhibition highlights eight emerging design talents, each championed by either journalist barbara chandler, curator of the exhibit, or by an established designer who launched their careers at 100% design during its first 10 editions. the show provides a platform to discover these upcoming creatives and enables them to display their work to a global audience. from recent graduates to designers already making small inroads in the industry, the display embraces furniture, lighting, textiles and ceramic design. additionally, an edit collection of ceramics designers, all with strikingly different styles, will feature as well. 100% forward will include the work of daniel schofield, dom postlethwaite, majeda clarke, light up north, kyla mccallum, stoff studios, and moe redish.
