refurbishing a classic

refurbishing a car revives the glory of the vehicle, just like this overhauled 1968 volkswagen type 2 double cab transporter. finished in red with white bumpers over a matching two-tone vinyl interior, the result resembles a fire toy truck, one that volkswagen fans would not mind driving.

the refurbishment comes with a 2,300cc flat-four power paired with a four-speed manual transaxle, and its features include a bed with fold-down sides, and reupholstered front and rear bench seats with lap belts. additional equipment includes white bumpers with overriders, sliding side windows, a roof rack with a wind deflector, and dual side mirrors.

features of the renovation

chrome-clad 15” steel wheels feature polished VW-branded hubcaps and wear 205/75 kumho solus TA11 tires with 2019 date codes, while four-wheel drums characterize the brakes. inside the vehicle, it features two rows of bench seats trimmed in white vinyl with red piping, seatbacks along with matching door panels, and new gray carpets. on top of those, there are front and rear lap belts, a glove compartment, an EMPI shifter handle, and a retro-style push-button stereo with an auxiliary input.

more than an upgraded look

a wood-rim steering wheel with a horn button bearing the wolfsburg emblem fronts a black dashboard housing a 90-mph VDO speedometer, a tachometer, and a fuel gauge. a pod mounted below the steering wheel includes cupholders and additional gauges indicating fuel level, oil pressure, and oil temperature. the replacement air-cooled flat-four is said to displace 2,300ccs and is equipped with dual carburetors, an upgraded oil cooler, and a stainless exhaust system.
