Designboom and Fiverr challenge our communities of industry experts and high-quality freelancers to showcase the possibilities of Adaptive Reuse.

Adaptive Reuse is an environmentally, culturally responsible approach to architecture that preserves the past while meeting contemporary needs. This competition challenges Designboom and Fiverr audiences to visualize an adaptive reuse project of their choice, focusing on transforming an existing structure into a modern, sustainable space that minimizes waste and impact.
The winning visualization could inspire future collaborations with architects and developers, opening doors for freelancers to work on real-world urban renewal projects.

The competition will take place in two phases:
Phase 1
25th November – 16th December 2024: Registration
The Participants will complete the online registration form on Designboom, and submit samples of the participant’s previous works in JPEG form as well as a 250-word presentation of their work and motivation in English (up to ten works will be allowed).
The Participant must also register for free on Fiverr to qualify.
After examining the applications, the Judges will pick around 100 of them. The Selected Participants will be informed by email on 20th December 2024.

Phase 2
20th December 2024 – 24 January 2025: Presentation of projects
The Selected Participants then submitted their design to the Contest section found on the Contest Site. Images and texts must be in digital format.
Submissions will be judged by their accuracy to the Contest Brief. The Judges will designate three Winners, including one First Prize Winner, whose names will be disclosed on 3rd February 2025, then published on the Designboom website.

Participants
This competition is intended for architects, artists and designers from around the world, whether professional or amateur, with no restrictions concerning training, techniques, etc. They must have attained the age of majority in their own country.

Prize
The First Prize Winner will receive $5,000 USD excluding taxes, corresponding to the purchase of the original artwork for their design.

Jury
The Jury is composed of Judges from Fiverr and Designboom's Editor-in-Chief, Sofia Lekka Angelopoulou.

Selection Criteria
Submissions will be judged by their accuracy to the Contest Brief (Cause, Description, and Outcome) and the Judging Criteria (Connection to Brief, Sustainability & Environmental Impact, Creativity & Imagination, Visual & Technical Execution, and Functionality and User Experience).
