love continuum is typography that you can climb on
Inviting interaction and play in the Duke of York Square in London, Yoni Alter’s Love Continuum is typographic art that you can climb on. A part of the public art trail sprawling across Chelsea this summer, the work sits on the King’s Road, the onetime stomping ground of The Beatles with their anthem, All You Need Is Love, celebrating the most important human emotion. The looping pink sculpture at first appears to unfold like a worm or a spring, though gradually morphs into the word ‘love’ when viewed from the right perspective — sparking fun for children and an a-ha moment for adults.

From 15 June to August, the Art Trail of public artworks alongside a vibrant program will form an extension of the Kensington + Chelsea Art Week, curated by Vestalia Chilton. Measuring 7.5 meters in length, Love Continuum is a continuation of Yoni Alter’s exploration of colorful, out-of-the-box concepts that infuse a sense of joy and play with scale. The artist’s work synthesizes sharp silhouettes, bold hues, and Pop Art iconography, reflecting the urban landscapes and creative culture of London city.
Yoni Alter has collaborated with Karl Lagerfeld, the NYC Marathon, Hermès, and Tate, among many others. Guided by experimentation and semiotics, Alter is continually seeking new ways of creating dimensional visual representations, working across sculpture, painting, print, and digital media. A self-confessed Chromatophilic (lover of color), his designs and graphic works are thus full of optimism and brightness.
