for those familiar with the japanese capital, ginza is the epicenter of tokyo’s luxury shopping, and it is not a coincidence that the ginza station is one of the busiest, welcoming an average of 250,000 passengers per day. to celebrate the station’s latest renovation project, tokujin yoshioka’s crystal of light will be permanently exhibited, generating a new symbol for the station that will last for decades.

crystal of light was created using 636 crystal glasses that consist of unique facets. the positions of these crystal glasses are programmed based on the map of the world. the infinite glows emitted from the crystal glasses come together to create a huge light which in turn conveys a wish for peace, hoping for ‘a world to be united as one with all lives on earth’, shedding light on people.
