stop a leaf from falling

following the ‘no escape’ public performance responding to the social isolation due to the pandemic, the landscape architect chaosteria performs ‘stop a leaf from falling’. as the title reveals, the performer tries to blow on the leaves to prevent them from falling to the ground.

however, the result is obvious: all prevention is in vain. so what’s the point of all this? ‘perhaps it is to let go of the pursuit of meaning and enjoy the momentary boredom, where poetry is hidden.’

the performer (see more here) in collaboration with the architects lanxin and media wang, hanged a white fabric from a tree’s branch, that served as a canvas. chaosteria dressed totally in black to contrast with the blank frame, stands down from a tree, blowing the leaves and pointlessly trying to prevent them from falling.
