SolidNature presents Vondel Fountain, Stacked, a monumental installation created with Dutch artist and designer Sabine Marcelis. Revealed during Amsterdam Fashion Week, the sculpture repurposes high-quality blue stone slabs from SolidNature’s award-winning installation showcased at Milan Design Week 2023, integrating them into a dynamic fountain structure that complements the city’s Vondelpark. The installation will remain on display for the next three months.

Reflecting on her work, Sabine Marcelis says: ‘As an artist, I am deeply interested in the possibilities of materials and how they can be shaped to create meaningful forms and experiences. Water has been a recurring element in my work, acting as both a medium and a source of inspiration.’ She adds that water can fundamentally transform spaces through its movement, sound, and the atmosphere it creates.

repurposing three stone slabs from solidnature

Located in front of the Vondel Paviljoen and near the Blue Tea House in Vondelpark, the fountain by Sabine Marcelis combines three stone volumes from SolidNature, each with a different orientation, offering a dynamic experience from every angle. Water begins to flow from multiple points within the installation, cascading with mesmerizing movement and sound. Presenting such an image, the Dutch artist sought to create a new visual and sensory landmark for passersby and visitors of the park, drawing in more visitors and enriching their experience.
