Fabian Bergmark Näsman unveils spiky Porsche at scopes festival

During the 2023 Porsche SCOPES festival in Stockholm, Sweden, Fabian Bergmark Näsman presented an installation in which he used a Porsche Taycan as his unconventional canvas. The Swedish artist who is known for his abstract sculptures that blur the boundaries between natural and supernatural, has adorned the silver-bodied car with an array of 73 spikes. 

Titled Porsche Taycan Assassin, the striking art installation set the stage for the three-day festival, which included over 35 performances, fashion shows, workshops, panel talks, and other permanent installations. The event took place in May 2023 within the expansive 5,000-square-meter space of Värmeverket, a former heating plant in the heart of the Swedish capital.

Fabian Bergmark Näsman’s signature spikes spark curiosity

At the Porsche SCOPES festival (find more here), visitors were greeted by the eye-catching Porsche Taycan art installation by Fabian Bergmark Näsman (find more here). Placed in the center of an indoor pond, surrounded by lush greenery and embraced by an enigmatic fog, the art car added an intriguing touch to the festival’s atmosphere. Näsman’s distinctive use of thorns, spines, and horns, which are his artistic trademarks, brought an element of mystique to the scene, sparking curiosity and wonder among attendees.

Inspired by thorny caterpillars and assassin bugs, the artist incorporated his signature spikes into the installation, covering its roof, hood, trunk lid, bumpers, doors, and fenders. The body-colored silver studs invite visitors to interact with the work, guiding them on how to approach and perceive the artwork’s surface. The installation itself is designed to ask questions about perception based on context.
