photographer june young lim captures water motions in urban spaces

sourcing the ideas of ying-yang, the ‘like water’ photography series by june young lim, advocates for how two seemingly different concepts are in fact the faces of the same entity. just like how there is no ying without yang, there are no buildings without human beings, and no life without water. emphasizing the combination of two seemingly different elements: the geometric and the organic shapes, the photographer places the pure forms of water in a city landscape.

june young lim traveled to many urban areas, such as new york city, to capture the locations for the pictures. the water shots were then taken in a studio using several strobe lighting and a black cloth as a background. afterwards, these water motions were photoshopped into the city landscapes, resulting in a series of photographs with impressions of rejuvenation, joy, and fun. furthermore, the ‘like water’ set showcases the importance of water to human beings as well as the cities we live in.
