'museum of me' collages your digital self into a 360 degree chorus of content

inside the museum of me, many screens and an AI await a digital vessel. after providing your instagram handle, the string of algorithms and photos and captions that tell the story of you on instagram will then be deciphered by that AI and run on those many screens, broadcasting, in a black mirroresque sort of way, your digital self.

a personalized collage of content will reel on each screen; colors, sounds, animations, spoken words, text, captions, likes, emojis, comments, and photos will come alive in a 2 minute animated chorus. the installation, created by cactus, is awaiting your input in sao paulo, brazil. it’s said that the museum of me houses the soul of the internet. reagardless of whether this is true, a lush kaleidoscopic collage of everything you’ve posted about yourself will rush around you. images, words and audible voices will collide alongside the AI’s own originally-generated words and objective ideas… ideas, about you. depending on the relationship between the digital self and the IRL self, the physical person might bask or strain objectively beneath it all and evaluate the soul of this digital person.

‘throughout history, technological advancements have transformed the way we live,’ said noah waxman, cactus’ co-founder. ‘in the last two decades, two such inventions have occurred: smartphones and social networks. with the museum of me, we wanted to make art that portrays the shift in human identity that is occurring as a result of these technological advancements.’ although the museum of me plays with numerous optical illusion techniques, it is compromised of 48 screens that ranges in aspect ratio, size, and resolution. the installation was carefully designed for accenture brazil with 15’x15’x10’ steel frame, customized mirror panels, and outer lightboxes.
