colorful fashion balls at iconic locations in Antwerp
antwerp fashion museum (MoMu), in collaboration with students of the royal academy of fine arts antwerp, celebrates the reopening of the museum with ‘fashion balls’; an interactive, public art installation of colorful supersized balls
capture the supersized balls with the city as a backdrop
walter van beirendonck, the belgian fashion designer and head of the fashion department of the royal academy of fine arts antwerp, in collaboration with the students were invited to design original outfits to match specific pieces of the installation. by scanning a QR code, every visitor can watch this playful installation come to life, by viewing a fashion film starring the custom-dressed spheres.
‘we made it interactive and hope that everyone will be stimulated to take selfies with the city as a backdrop this way. it’s a project that’s very accessible – that’s why we made the ‘fashion balls’ in all kinds of sizes. this project will appeal to both international fashion fans and casual passers-by to take part,’ said walter van beirendonck.
