spanish artist maximo riera homages a wide range of living species with his ‘animal chair collection’, including an octopus, a rhino, an elephant, and a hippo between others. taking approximately nine to eleven weeks to produce, every piece is manufactured to order. in the end, an average of 480 hours of work are spent for each individual animal-shaped seating object. the chairs are made in a high dense polyurethane, which it is as consistent and resilient as solid wood and to reinforce the entire composition, each chair contains internally a metallic frame. in order to achieve the most accurate and finest outcome, 3D modelling software as well as cutting edge engineering and manufacturing techniques are used.

‘this collection gives us an option of admiring what nature is capable of; this is the main reason why from the beginning I wanted to be faithful to the animal’s physique. this series is an homage to these animals and the whole animal kingdom which inhabits our planet, as an attempt to reflect and capture the beauty of nature in each living thing.’ says maximo riera.
