catch the ‘culture pool’ show on june 23 in frome, somerset
‘Culture Pool’ is the first visual art show curated by Makers’ Yard, a new artist-run cultural space in Frome, Somerset, UK. Set in a converted Victorian tannery, the creative hub also features artist studios and a community yard. ‘We took over the warehouse in 2020 with a vision to create a new hub for independent designers, makers, and creative businesses; a place of energy that encourages collaboration and cross-pollination of ideas and practices,’ writes the team.
The event will be launched as a large-format poster show on June 23, 2022, at the Makers’ Yard from 7pm to 9 pm.

‘an unrefined celebration of people and places’
The ‘Culture Pool’ by Makers’ Yard (see more here) will open as part of Photo Frome, a new photography festival aiming to fill this small, rural town with an ambitious program of exhibitions, workshops, talks, and activities.
The exhibition will showcase large-format fly posters by an international group of contemporary photographers whose work represents a diverse body of intrepid portrait and still-life imagery. ‘The show will be an unrefined celebration of people and places with photography that is eccentric, distinctive, and hung candidly both inside and outside the warehouse space,’ shares Makers’ Yard.
