japanese studio konya2023 in collaboration with takako takeuchi have come up with a solution to prevent unauthorized parking at a local residents’ bike garage. the ‘amulet line of knots’ project uses a barrier system to vaguely define the private territory, without completely shutting it off. the ‘kekkai’ structure is based on japanese shrines and consists of a circle, knots, and columns, all of which are important elements in shinto culture. the different materials come together to create a sacred atmosphere that is also successful in cordoning off parking spaces.
