foreal sculpts each letter of the alphabet in playful 3D styles
all images courtesy of foreal
we bet german creative studio foreal had a ton of fun sculpting this playful and cheeky set of 3-dimensional letter forms, which redefine new ways of how typography can be built and seen in the digital world. each selection from the alphabetic series uses cinema 4D for their on-screen construction, painstakingly rendered as rocky craters on the moon, sudsy soap bubbles, oozing liquid gold and mouth-watering chewy caramel with incredibly accurate realism. bizarre, delicate, grotesque and delicious, the uppercase symbols each evoke a various reaction from the viewer, reconsidering the way letters both communicate and transmit information and ideas. we chose a few of our favorites, but take a look at the gallery below for the rest of the letter forms from ‘the sculpted alphabet’ series.
the letter ‘D’ is made to look like a rocky moon, with a tiny astronaut landing on it
a half broken snickers bar looks like the lower case letter ‘I’
the letter ‘Z’ takes a bubble bath in soapy and gooey suds
‘Y’ is formed from the neon blue goo of two broken egg shells
like an 80’s rock star, ‘K’ is hairy and sports some gold jewelry
octopus ‘H’ has slimy red tentacles
liquid gold oozes out of the letter ‘U’
heavy letter ‘C’ is all bound up and rooted to the ground
the candle ‘G’ drips hot purple wax
the nature inspired ‘F’ takes the form of an almost barren tree
‘W’ makes us hungry
‘V’ is made from two strings of bubble gum stuck to the bottom of shoes
glow sticks light up gray letter ‘M’
