many start their day with a classic cup of coffee to caffeinate, but hungarian artist flora borsi asks, ‘have you ever noticed how beautiful it can be?.’ with this in mind, she has composed ‘coffee universe’, a series of photographic manipulations which combine pictures of urban sites and natural landscapes with composite images of the milky morning drink. the sky backdrop is replaced by flurries of bronze and white-hued swirls, morphing into surreal, warm and dreamy panoramas. from new york city’s empire state building to a quiet, rural vista the scenes are immersed in swirling spheres of coffee as if looking into a cup-of-joe.
