‘black hole’, the series of images by swiss artist fabian oefner demonstrate sequences of paint modeled by centripetal force. the setup is utilizes a drill and a high-speed camera capable of creating flashes as short as a 1/40000 of a second. to photograph the moment, a sensor is connected to the drill, which sends an impulse to the flashes – freezing the motion of the paint. the various shades of the acrylic splashes are then immediately captured in detail when switched on – creating a black-hole effect that contrasts against the vibrant spraying forms.
