Simply driving a supercar through the streets of Tokyo isn’t guaranteed to attract people’s attention these days, but Elisa Chana Cecchetti has found a new way to make sure that her recent find doesn’t go unnoticed. Live at an Italian supercar event in Tokyo, the artist transformed a $700,000 Lamborghini Aventador SVJ into a vibrant paint-splattered canvas.

Translating her signature abstract ‘InMedium Impressionism’ gestures and hues which had previously been limited to only fabric canvases or the bodies of her muses, she now took on the carbon fibre exterior of the exclusive luxury car as enthusiastic — or perhaps scandalized — spectators watched on.

Italian artist Elisa Chana Cecchetti had previously painted the body of the Lamborghini’s prolific owner — Mr Goto Manabu — who was inspired by her vibrant brushstrokes and decided to lend her a new canvas: his Lamborghini Aventador Superveloce Jota. One of just 953 models in the world, the supercar was recently transfigured into a bold work of art in front of a live crowd.

Standing as a sculptural impressionist painting with almost every panel of the car taken over by an amalgamation of bold, almost primitive marks, the paint has since been removed and the SVJ has been returned back to its normal state and reunited with its owner.

Over the course of her career, the designer, artist, and architect has generated a new genre which she calls ‘InMedium Impressionism’ through which she explores the stories of her muses and renders them to life through colors and marks on canvases or bodies. Her recent venture into the digital realm has led her to practice as an NFT artist for a new project ‘CryptoShape’ which aims to help people to discover their own shape.
