marking their sixth artistic collaboration, the creative couple comprising photographer davide luciano and food stylist claudia ficca have realized the series ‘all food and no play’ in homage to horror. the photographic collection sees the reinterpretation of the famed psychological thriller ‘the shining’ through food. the movie’s most iconic characters, scenes, places and phrases are crafted out of cupcakes, peas, and pie, mimicking the colors and compositions from stanley kubrick’s 35-year-old film.
‘lapearinth’ — a interpretation of the overlook maze created with fresh peas
the hedge maze emblematic of the movie’s menacing twists is recreated out of carefully-placed frozen peas; ‘all work and no play makes jack a dull boy’ is spelled out uppercase letters made of pie crust; the grady twins are represented by baby blue cupcakes wrapped in pink bows. the edible tribute draws viewers in to the frightful scenes and scenarios, not through film and fear, but rather food and flavor.
