sculpture by the sea returns to sydney’s bondi beach, seeing the 2-kilometer long tamarama coastal walk transformed into a temporary art park. over 100 works by creatives from both australia and across the world line the sand, shore and dunes from now until november 9th, 2014.

for this edition, artist and senior copywriter at ogilvy andrew hankin has placed an enormous frying pan right in the middle of the beach. the oversized skillet is filled with sand from the surrounding site, allowing visitors to lie within and play inside the massive sculptural installation. ‘we’re frying out here’ has been created in collaboration with sunsense, and aims to raise awareness to the dangers of sunbathing and serve as a reminder not to over ‘cook’ during summer. ‘it’s a great honor to have been selected into sculpture by the sea but an even better feeling to have been able to create a sculpture with an important message behind it.’ hankin describes.
