the colorful light-catching objects are strung from the trees, in an exterior area intended for open-air dining. to form each of the suspended sculptures, a square piece of transparent fabric is cut with a small ‘C’ like pattern, beginning out the outside edges, working to much smaller swooping forms at the interior point. this pattern is utilized in order to develop a voluminous, flexible cone-like shape for the hanging objects. the installation was developed as a defining facet for the outdoor space in order to create a more inhabitable environment for this temporary gathering place on jim thompson farm. see designboom’s previous coverage on jim thompson farm
