in southern tokyo, japanese architecture practice yo yamagata architects has collaborated with AND associates to complete a residential dwelling that is pierced by a tree, which rises through the structure. entitled ‘TY house’, the two-storey property places the home’s sleeping quarters at ground floor level with open-plan living accommodation positioned above. in order to bring natural light into the property, a corner of the volume has been sliced off in order to expose the upper level to the sky.
