IMAGINE.COFFEE SUNAGODA embraces the landscape of Izumo Plain

Situated in Izumo City, Shimane Prefecture in Japan, Imagine.Coffee Sunagoda emerges seamlessly integrated into the serene landscape of Izumo Plain. The location, nestled between the Kitayama Mountains, serves as the perfect backdrop, offering clients views of a lush green park. The concept for this one-story wooden structure is rooted in simplicity. The café, topped by a generous eave roof, features a clean aesthetic. Strategically oriented with openings facing north and south, the design prioritizes views. The north side boasts narrower openings, framing scenic vistas of Kitayama, while the south side reveals continuous openings that capture the essence of the park, bathing the café in natural light.

St Architecture carefully curates a blend of subtle textures

A thoughtfully designed porch on the south side further enhances the experience embracing the surrounding landscape. The seating area features a carefully curated blend of materials, comprising an earthen floor with a concrete slab and a slightly elevated section with flooring matching the veranda. Through subtle manipulations, such as floor-level differentiations, furniture design, and column-beam arrangements, the design team at StA | St Architecture creates two distinct atmospheres within the minimalist structure.
