VTN architects uses red bricks for viettel training center in vietnam

VTN architects has unveiled plans for a training center and educational complex that comprises 12 blocks constructed from locally sourced red bricks. located 30 kilometers (19 miles) outside of hanoi, the development has been designed for viettel — vietnam’s largest mobile network operator. once complete, the complex will accommodate a range of facilities for the company’s staff, including classrooms, meeting rooms, halls, and offices.

viettel’s educational center forms part of a larger campus named hoa lac hi-tech park, which remains readily accessible from the nearby residential communities. VTN says that the project intends to ‘create a quiet and peaceful space for the trainees to focus on their studies, away from the hustle and bustle of city life’. the development also provides short-term accommodation as well as a range of on-site training courses.

locally sourced red bricks have been used for almost the entirety of the complex

the site’s main blocks are four to five storeys, with the remainder are either two to three storeys high. these volumes are surrounded by an overflow pool, which meanders through the complex in order to help regulate its microclimate. the blocks are linked by corridors, ramps, and staircases, which are connected at different levels. doubling as an additional circulation route, a lightweight concrete roof covers the majority of the site’s semi-outdoor spaces, protecting staff from the hot sun and tropical climate.

meanwhile, an integrated garden system provides space for trainees to relax and congregate outdoors, with roof terraces providing additional outdoor space. clad almost entirely in red brick, the monolithic structure presents a strong and rustic presence. the façade is made of two walls with a void in between to insulate the interior. the project is currently under construction and is expected to be complete by the end of 2017.
